Friends of Rainier members, present, voted to fund a plan to implement a campus-wide event for each holiday/occasion throughout the year, i.e. Valentine’s Day, Halloween, etc. As you know, we at Pat A have been supporting our houses/family with our funds in a like manner over the years.

At the subsequent Pat A meeting, discussion on this issue took most of our time. A motion was made and then voted upon to join with FOR and consolidation of our funds and efforts, as to continue acting as a singular entity seems redundant at this point! Our treasurer Jeanne Powers will transfer our funds to the FOR accounts. Those co-mingled funds will be available to our group should needs be. Any future donations for the benefit of your loved ones at Rainier should be made to the FOR group.

Our Pat A officers, Kate Gundermann (Chairwoman), Jeanne Powers (Treasurer), Vicky Poley (Secretary) and MaryAnn Brookman will continue to meet every other month on the first Monday evening after the Sunday FOR meeting. Should you have any questions, please feel free to call me Thank you!***
Best regards to all,

The agenda of this meeting will include:

We’ll ask Supt. Crowley to bring us up to date on what’s happening at Rainier School. . Bring your questions to the meeting.

We’ll also discuss the latest data on the legislative action in Olympia: One important issue is: The Morgan Center RHC in Bremerton: There, parents (and staff) are under a lot of pressure to agree to move their resident relatives to other non RHC communities and in some cases other RHC communities, so DSHS can close the Morgan Ctr. We are told DSHS’s goal is to close it by June. It’s agreed there are no cost savings, so it becomes a philosophical issue for the closers…It’s OK to have a continuum of care for our large senior population including congregate care facilities in every state, but evidently not for the “least of our brethren”, our DD relatives, wards, and friends in RHCs. Yakima Valley School is also under closure pressure, set for a later date. For the latest data on legislative issues that concern all the RHC issues go to the ActionDD website : actiondd.org/

Hooray!!The Thrift store is back & open in the Buckley Business Park!
